Public confession

So what is public confession this is openly giving a clear explanation of your state of soul in terms of emotional status, will or mind or belief system which touches on the spirit man. Under the force of public confession with have a well structured strains of thoughts that support the claim of that truth.

We us Christians we are not left behind in public confession which is a written and a tradition left to us by our fore fathers, remembering apostle peter during the detainment of Jesus He was asked three times to openly confess that he is a follower of Jesus and unfortunately He did not

Look at the unfolding of events in the gospel according to mark

And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also was with Jesus of Nazareth. But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou says. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agrees thereto. But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

Mar 14:66-72 KJV

I know you will not imagine how a fully-fledged apostle question by a hand maid one who did not have freedom  would fail to confess , peter adamantly  refuse d that He never knew Jesus when actually he had spend almost three and a half years with Jesus not only did He refuse but we see that He even began to call curses on himself this was a strong affirmation that he never knew Jesus. Many of us will look at peter and see how He had failed, and with us in the same situation we cannot repeat this mistake

Salvation prerequisite

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your  heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:9-10 KJV

Our salvation has two sides just like a coin we have one side that is Godward and their portion is us ward. The first section states that with the heart a man believe this is related to God as he is the one who sees the heart and in the heart he sees the sincerity of the believing, the next portion is related to men as a Christian I’m expected and commanded to confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord this is the truth of the matter and only under this circumstance is a man saved

Advantages of public confession

Public confession saves a Christian from many troubles ,many of our worldly friends will still consider us  their own if we do not confess openly before them that now we are of another kingdom ,if we  confess people of this world will not associate us to many of their activities such as gossiping ,drug abuse ,sexual advances and corruption because they know we are straight ,when they invite us it will not be long for us to sustain tricks and lies  to avoid their ways, why don’t we employ the correct antidote and openly confess that we now belong to another kingdom.

Is changed life a substitute for confession?

Many of us born into a Christian family we have taken a changed life as a substitute for confession we commonly are reported to be saying let me speak well dress well and they will just know that am saved  don’t we see here that we are falling in the same trap peter failed when we refuse to openly confess . In Matthew 26:73 it is mentioned that even peters accent showed that  he was a Galilean but they did not want an accent because many speak that way they wanted a public confession ,let us not add to the word of God because of fear of confession let us be bold and confess

Reason for not confessing

1)

These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

John 9:22 KJV

The first reason is fear of men we see in the presiding verse of John 9 a very interesting story of a man who was healed of blindness who was then brought before the Pharisee with his parents having a miracle clearly witnessed but still the Pharisees rejected this profound miracle coming from the mouth of His parents  .We find that the parents refused to confess that Jesus did this because of fear .we are  also told in Proverbs 29:25 that fear brings a trap, why should we trap ourselves in fear let us publicly confess

2)

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 12:42-43 KJV

Here find the next reason Christians fail to confess Jesus thy Love men glory, we find in this verse that the rulers failed to confess why? because they wanted to be highly esteemed by men they felt a sense of shame, my question is who should be ashamed the world or us Christians, the ways of this world are just an unfolding from a lower to higher degrees of shame look at their speech, clothes, devotions, passion, visions and  mission all are just shame .So if it is having shame then the world and not us should be ashamed

Our confession and the Lords confession

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Mat 10:32 KJV

The word of our Lord Jesus Christ is very clear that whoever confesses Him before men He will replicate the same when we stand before his father and the angels. There it is my commitment to confess Christ before men

Amen
